Ik merk dat er enorme prijsverschillen tussen de diverse winkels zitten. Voorbeelden:

Chasen's: vanaf €200
Harvie: vanaf €250
Oger: vanaf €350
Parlare: vanaf €259
Town and Country: vanaf €228

Daar zitten opzich nog best grote verschillen tussen, maar de service telt natuurlijk ook heel erg mee.

Morgen m'n eerste MTM-Borrelli ophalen. Bij Chasen's. 219 euro was ik kwijt.

Service moet ik nog afwachten. Eerste fitting was iig goed (moest terug vanwege verkeerde knopen, al stond het wel goed op de bon).

Service moet ik nog afwachten. Eerste fitting was iig goed (moest terug vanwege verkeerde knopen, al stond het wel goed op de bon).

Dat is zeker niet veel geld. Voor een RTW betaalde ik bij vanOverheen van Wissen al een goede 180 E (240 E, was 25% off)

As we all know Borrelli is famous for the handwork on their shirts: hand sewn buttonholes, interior collar band, yoke, etc. Apparently this work really is done by little old Italian ladies at their homes in the nearby countryside surrounding the Borrelli factory. When the ladies send the shirts back to the factory, the shirts have to be vigorously washed because they are covered in cigarette ash, dirt from the natural oil in the women's hands, tiny drops of blood, and the shirts smell like food.

Of course by the time they reach your Neiman Marcus they are perfectly presentable examples of high-quality craftsmanship, but I love the idea that they begin life in such a humble and human way.

Mijn N&K shirts ruiken vaak naar bier, en er zitten glasscherven in. Blijkbaar laat degene die ze maakt vaak glazen met bier vallen.

Beetje raar, Borrelli maakt meer dan 50000 shirts per jaar. Dat zijn dan wel een heleboel oude dametjes die daar rond die fabriek wonen.
Borrelli is tegenwoordig echt een gigantisch bedrijf dat het oude ambachtelijke imago zeer doortastend behoudt. Maar of het allemaal nog zo middeleeuws met de hand in een pittoreske  houten hutje gebeurd durf ik wel te betwijfelen.
Desondanks blijft Borrelli mijn favoriete merk...

Shirts naaien is wel zo'n typisch thuiswerk klusje. Scheelt ook veel rompslomp. Gewoon duidelijk €x per shirt

Hoeveel shirts zou zo'n naaister per dag in elkaar draaien? 4?

Stel, ze werkt 250 dagen, dan is dat per naaister 1000 shirts per jaar.
Dan heb je 50 naaisters nodig om aan die 50.000 overhemden per jaar te komen. Valt best mee dus.

Precies. Dat een vrouwtje een dag doet over een hemd, 250 dagen per jaar. Heb je maar 200 mensen nodig...

50000 is overigens maar een gokje, ze hebben nu een omzet van rond de 30-35 miljoen p/j.
