Vicki Vasilopoulos is een Grieks/Amerikaanse journaliste met publicaties in o.a. The New York Times en Esquire en heeft een lange geschiedenis in de fashionwereld. Men of the Cloth is haar regiedebuut.

Men of the Cloth is een film over Italiaanse meesterkleermakers. Mannen van de oude stempel die het vak op de traditionele manier hebben geleerd. We ontmoeten deze kleermakers in hun ateliers, zowel in Italië als in Amerika waar veel Italiaanse kleermakers hun heil zochten. Ze laten ons zien hoe ze hun producten maken, wat er bij komt kijken maar bovenal hoe ze ondanks hun hoge leeftijd de energie kunnen opbrengen om door te blijven gaan. Pure passie!

En oud zijn ze, één van hen is de 90 jaar oude Joe Centofanti die recentelijk een leerling heeft aangenomen om zijn kennis over te dragen, hij wil zijn passie doorgeven aan een nieuwe generatie kleermakers.

Deze film komt geheel tot stand middels giften en sponsoring. Het heeft vele jaren gekost om de film te maken en het project is inmiddels bij de laatste fase aangekomen, het monteren. Daarvoor heeft Vicki nog wat extra ondersteuning nodig. Voor dit doel is een pagina opgezet om de benodigde fondsen bij elkaar te krijgen. Wij dragen dit project een zeer warm hart toe en hebben onze financiële bijdrage al gestort. Laat u verrassen en verwarmen door de onderstaande trailer maar laat u vooral overhalen ook een (bescheiden) bijdrage te leveren aan het verschijnen van deze film. Geef!

O'Mast Screening at NYU - Casa Italiana - 30th Nov 6PM

We are most pleased to announce the premier screening of O’Mast, a documentary by Gianluca Migliarotti, exploring the culture and tradition of tailors and tailoring in Naples. For lovers of Italian culture and craftsmanship, it is a gentle but engaging glimpse of life in the city. It focuses on a handful of tailors, tailoring aficionados and industry heavyweights speaking about their origins, views on style and the how the city of Naples makes it all possible.

The screening will be on the 30th of November at 6pm at NYU’s Casa Italiana, 24 W 12th Street. Entry is free and seating is on a first come first served basis. Gianluca Migliarotti will be in attendance to discuss the documentary further. I will also be around to mix and mingle and would love to say hello to any of our customers who can stop by. The Armoury will be the exclusive retailer of the DVD which will be released before Christmas.
