The History of Peter StormPeter Storm was started in 1954 by Noel Bibby who allied his experiences in the Royal Marines during WW2, and his great love of the outdoor world, to form a company making specialised waterproof and thermal clothing for walking, sailing, golf and country wear. Click her to view the 1962 price list.Click here for details of the 'Peter' logo.Ever innovative, Peter Storm flourished by being the first company to provide 100% waterproof lightweight nylon rainwear, the first to weld together complete garments with no stitching, the first to make permanently proofed knitwear and the first with waterproof and breathable coatings with no 'pores', and at a sensible price. These innovations have kept Peter Storm at the top. Whilst innovation was important to Peter Storm's success, Noel always made sure that the importance of the fit of each new design was never forgotten.Keen to expand, Noel quickly developed markets abroad, with a Peter Storm company to handle the distribution. America, Japan and Holland were quickly followed by Ireland, Australia, Germany, Canada, Norway and Spain. Close association with agents in Denmark, Finland, Italy and Sweden marked the boundaries of his international achievements. Not satisfied with just manufacturing clothing, Noel also expanded vertically to create his own proofing plant in Manchester, England. This was to provide another great interest in his life. His knowledge of the constituent chemicals that went to make his first breathable proofings and the degree of confusion in the trade, led him to design from scratch a simple yet accurate machine to measure the breathability of proofings and to relate the information in layman's terms.Sadly, Noel died in 1989, but he left behind one of the best loved and internationally famous outdoor clothing brands in the World.
Hi D,Thank you for contacting us through the peterstorm.com web site.I believe that the model in the photograph is a design made by Millets. Themain problem is that Millets do not send items products overseas and thebest way forward may be for you to pinpoint the style on their website andget someone in the UK to by it for you and send it to you in Holland. Let meexplain :-The sales of Peter Storm products in the UK and Ireland are controlledthrough the Millets and Blacks chains of outdoor stores. Outdoor Equipmentsells a different range of Peter Storm clothing through it's distributors incountries outside of the UK and Ireland. To avoid treading on each otherstoes, Millets/Blacks do not export clothing, and we do not sell to customerswithin the UK and Ireland.Millets sell an extensive range of outdoor products and they have a greatwebsite. You can contact Millets directly at [email protected] orvisit their online shop at www.millets.co.ukKindest regardsPaul BibbyOutdoor Equipment
Het gekke is dat ik bij een cagoule altijd aan een bivakmuts moet denken, maar kennelijk heeft het in NL ook nog de betekenis van een windjack.
