Het is wel verwarrend. Op internet is op meerdere plaatsen te lezen dat er op suede schoenen eerst een goede beschermlaag moet worden aangebracht alvorens ermee in de regen te gaan lopen.

I wore these all over Paris and Rome one rainy December. Suede is wonderful, it breathers very well, it is light weight, very flexible and comfortable. Don't be afraid of suede....go for a pair. And, if you are hesitant, get the darker color brown and a can of silicon spray.
it's really a hassle to have to brush them after every wear. with that said, if you will be in an office building, then fine. if you will be walking around in the seattle rain, then probably not. pollution + rain will combine to leave dark spots on your suede.
De vraag is of het suede van Santoni vergelijkbaar is met het suede van de bekende Engelse merken (traipsing in the damp country). Santoni kiest over het algemeen voor soepelere en dunnere leersoorten. Dit zou wellicht effect kunnen hebben op het gedrag van het suede met slecht weer...
Mijn mening: het zal niet voor niets zijn dat men in het algemeen aanbeveelt om suede schoenen eerst in te spuiten tegen nattigheid. Sommige soorten suede zullen het goed uithouden, maar de vraag is of ze ook esthetisch optimaal blijven. Ik ben bang van niet. En dit laatste punt is nu juist van groot belang bij de aanschaf van een Santoni
. Ik zou ze dus niet zo snel aantrekken met slecht weer.
