"Lisle Yarn" or "Filo di Scozia", also known as "Scottish Lisle Thread", is made of mercerized cotton. The thread is made of two or three yarns twisted together and is treated with caustic alkali in order to increase strength, luster and affinity for dye. The fibre is therefore slightly shiny and highly resistant.
